Statistical Data Dissemination and Access
Background
The Statistical Data Dissemination and Access ensures that official statistics produced by the Ethiopian Statistics Service (ESS) from surveys, censuses, and administrative data sources are made accessible, timely, and user-friendly. The office plays a central role in promoting statistical transparency and supporting evidence-based decision-making across government, development partners, and the public.

To ensure timely, equitable, and user-centered access to high-quality statistical data in formats
that are accessible, understandable, and usable for diverse stakeholders.
What We Do
- • Develop and implement data dissemination policies, standards, and guidelines
- • Ensure the timely release of statistical data from surveys, censuses, and administrative
- sources
- • Manage national data dissemination platforms, including STATBANK, microdata
- repositories, and web portals
- • Prepare data for public release through proper documentation, metadata development,
- anonymization, and formatting
- • Produce user-oriented statistical outputs that enable easy exploration of key findings,
- including visualizations, trend analysis, and interactive dashboards derived from
- officially released reports
- • Manage institutional data repositories and knowledge management systems

- • Provision of Public Use Files (PUFs) for secure public access
- • Timely dissemination of statistical reports and publications
- • Maintenance and continuous improvement of data portals and online databases (e.g.,
- STATBANK)
- • Production of visual data products, including charts, dashboards, and infographics
