Agricultural Census
The Agricultural Census is the largest statistical operation conducted by the Ethiopian Statistics Service (ESS), providing comprehensive benchmark data on Ethiopia’s agricultural sector. It covers agricultural holdings, crop and livestock production, land use, irrigation, agricultural inputs, machinery, and farming practices.
The Agricultural Sample Enumeration provides essential evidence for agricultural planning, policymaking, food security, rural development, and the production of official agricultural statistics. Between censuses, the ESS conducts annual agricultural sample surveys to monitor trends in agricultural production.
