Agricultural Statistics

Agricultural statistics in Ethiopia are produced from several data sources. The most important is the Agricultural Sample Survey, which is conducted twice a year to cover the country’s two main cropping seasons.

The largest survey covers the Meher (main) season and produces annual reports on topics such as crops, livestock, and farm management. Another sample survey is conducted during the Belg (short rainy) season, focusing mainly on crop production. Data from these surveys are also combined with other sources in agricultural statistical abstracts.

In addition, annual surveys of commercial farms are conducted using the agricultural business register. Agricultural data are also disseminated through the five-year Ethiopian Socioeconomic Panel Survey.

Most agricultural statistics are published as PDF reports, while key data are also available through the ESS StatBank and the IMIS Database
