The Ethiopian Statistics Service has made public the initial results of the Fifth Demographic and Health Survey for the Oromia Regional State.
Delivering the opening speech at the workshop forum, Honorable W/ro Aynalem Teshager, Deputy Director General of the Population and Social Statistics of the service, noted that this workshop is the first of its kind at the regional level. She explained that the workshop is not only for making public the report of the region’s initial survey results but also a platform to create a common understanding on how to utilize data obtained from the survey for the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of future social sector development plans in the region. She expressed gratitude to the administrative bodies at all levels in the region and the public for their support in the success of survey.
The workshop was organized by the Addis Ababa Statistics Branch Office. Officials from various sector offices of the Oromia Regional Government and managers of the Ethiopian Statistics Service branch offices located in the Oromia region participated in the forum. Presentations were made on the main findings of the survey focusing on the region, and awareness was created.
