Business Statistics
The department is responsible for collection, production and compilation of all nonagricultural economic activities’ Official statistical report under Economics Statistics Division via survey, Census and administrative records. Those include Economic Establishments Census, Survey on large, medium, small and cottage manufacturing industries, Trade Statistics (Compilation of export and import trade compilation (monthly, quarterly, yearly reports…), Construction sectors statistics, Construction input price survey, Mining and quarrying survey, Hotel and Restaurant Survey, Quarterly Manufacturing Business Survey, Hotel and Restaurant Survey, Distributive trade survey and Statistical Business Register (SBR) in line with national and international standards.
Primary Objective
Providing Official statistics data in all nonagricultural economic sectors such as manufacturing, service sectors, trade, Construction, mining and quarrying, energy, ICT and finance sectors for national demands including for GDP rebasing and input for GDP.
Roles & Responsibilities
- • Provide reliable, timely, and policy-relevant economic statistics in general and business statistics data in particular to support national development agendas and nonagricultural economic sectors planning, policy making, monitoring, evaluation & academia research.
- • Implement statistically sound and internationally accepted methodologies for data collection, estimation, and analysis.
- • Ensure data quality assurance through rigorous factory based and enterprises-based field work supervision validation, supervision, financial statement validation and verification as per the UN Statistics standards of business statistics.
- • Lead innovation in data systems, including integration of financial statement and documents of the enterprises, Artificial intelligence and digital data collection tools.
- • Support evidence-based decision-making by producing analytical reports and insights.

- Annual Large and medium scale manufacturing industry survey since 1960’s, frame updating and main survey.
- Micro and Small-Scale manufacturing industry Survey frame updating and main survey.
- Large and medium manufacturing Producer price index (M_PPI) quarter Survey.
- Survey of ICT access and Use by Large and Medium Scale Manufacturing Industries.
- Quarterly Manufacturing Business Survey (We have report till 3rd Quarter of 2009 E.C).
- Statistical Business Register (SBR)
- Contractors Construction survey.
- Trade Statistics ፤ (Import & Export trade compilation (monthly, quarterly, yearly…) (Raw data from Ethiopian Custom Authority Export and Import trade data)
- Nonprofit Institutions Serving Households (NIPSH) survey.
- Distributive trade survey which covers whole sale and retail trades.
- Hotel and Restaurant Survey.
- Cottage and handcrafts manufacturing survey.
