The use of statistical information for economic management in Ethiopia started in the 1960s. In 1963 the Central Statistics office was founded with a mandate of conducting regular statistical activities. Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives re-established the Central Statistical Agency (CSA) in 2005 through its legislative authority based on Article 55 of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Constitution, with the following functions:
